Vaping Boom
Vaping is a prevalent practice. These days people all around the world are getting more involved in vaping technologies, and the industry reacts immediately, in fact. In addition, economically, vaping is a crazy profitable sphere. For instance, Juul, one of the most famous vaping companies, boomed with $15,000,000,000 two years ago. Impressive figures, aren’t they?
However, the future of vaping bloom is questioned nowadays. The point is that plenty of politicians, doctors, social activists, and scientists started joint campaigns against vaping. The issue is publicly discussed and many people insist on decreasing vaping sales and distribution. This is all thanks to newer research, which proves that vaping can cause harsh health dangers.
Banning Vaping Apps
New laws are actively developed to protect citizens from possible harm from direct vape pen use and secondhand vaping. Unfortunately, the danger was not seen at the beginning of the device’s popularity and now it might be difficult to cut the public interest to the stylish, advanced, highly technological, easy-to-use, and famous devices.
Last year Apple decided to delete all the vaping related apps from their online store. They believe it could help decrease the rising popularity of vape pens, which will facilitate taming the wave of vaping-related diseases that are being observed in the community. After Apple sought the solution of this social issue for some time, they decided to take such a radical step.
Vaping Cons
Considering the good intentions of Apple’s decision one must outline the basic dangers of vaping activity. The first point to mention is that any vaping is harmful. Even if it is the best vape pen, or even if it is non-nicotine liquid, it is always harmful to any person.
- Most e liquids used in vape pens contain nicotine, which is both a harmful and addictive chemical. If person consumes nicotine under 25 it can affect his or her brain development. In addition, nicotine consumption increases the risks of getting addicted to other drugs in the future.
- Most e liquids contain ultrafine and diacetyl, which get deep into the lungs and become the first step to serious lung disease.
- Multiple scientific studies showed the link between low sperm count in males and embryo implantation impairments with vaping.
- Research shows that e cigs use increases heart rate and blood pressure. It also makes artery walls stiffer and less elastic. Moreover, the risks of blood clots grow for vapers.
For and Against Ban
Unfortunately, such a ban cuts both ways. Having removed all the apps, which encouraged vaping and experiments with e liquids, coils, and vaping process in general, they have also got rid of the apps, which had vaping quitting as the main objective. If one strived to give up the habit and used a special app to motivate himself, they have become deprived of this opportunity nowadays.
In fact, this is not the first time that Apple removes some contradictory applications from the store. A related example is the 2017 Apple refused to accept apps based on human-nicotine interaction. Many users are indignant at such a decision, especially after it was officially claimed that mobile apps could be safely used for assistance in dropping the habit.
Modern technologies and specially designed software for various routine needs are a part of the modern lifestyle. Therefore, having your vaping dairy and reviews on the best vape pens in one’s pocket is extremely useful for analyzing personal lifestyle and taking steps to change it. Moreover, pop-up notifications are a perfect cessation method for those who are constantly using their smartphone.
Generally, there used to be many start-ups, which boomed into effective anti-addiction apps, which helped plenty of people either control their addiction or even quit it. Some of the apps were even cooperating with public health organizations. Developers of these apps are also dissatisfied with Apple’s decision because they lose plenty of money.
For sure, this is business but they did a good thing to many people and were paid back, and now they are deprived of the opportunity. The question is if banning all the apps is ok to avoid the vaping pandemic? Apple has deleted over 180 apps, and many of them were a real help for people seeking this help. Both users and developers disagree with such a blind comb-out.
Ban’s Consequences: a Further Perspective
Modern realities make business life the toughest ever. To live, an entrepreneur must go through many challenges. Getting banned for helping people in quitting vape pens is more than just discouraging. Putting oneself in the shoes of the developer might help to understand the problem deeper. That is why more and more people now say that Apple should somehow reconsider their decision, outline a list of considerate criteria, and develop a set of reasonable tools, which would enable anti-vaping apps to work for the benefit of our society.
On the other side, this even is a great lesson for many entrepreneurs in the field of IT. Some of the apps deleted had their versions for Android and other platforms, which means that they have just lost a part of their market but did not become dead on the market. The newcomers must learn from this situation that creating a niche product is extremely risky, and there are certain ways to avoid a complete catastrophe. One of these ways is to use more than one market for product promotion.
Conclusions
It is funny that due to statistics, smartphones are more addictive than nicotine. Therefore, producing smartphones and banning vaping apps in them seems like rabble-rousing. For sure, the demand to ban phones would be absurd. The same way it works with vaping apps. Some of them are really helpful for people trying to quit, and this ban makes it more difficult. The wiser decision would be to invest some money into anti-vaping campaigns rather than deleting both harmful and useful apps, destroying someone’s business and someone’s hopes for a sober life.
