How to Fix Pair Error on Kodi – Olpair, TheVideo.me and More
Kodi is an open-source software that is powered mainly by unofficial addons. This fact alone creates compatibility challenges, and it’s, therefore, not uncommon for users to encounter some issues when using the media player. Among these is the pair error.
The pair error on Kodi occurs when using an addon that links to a stream that requires authorization for viewing. Some of the most common pair errors users experience include Olpair (OpenLoad pair), Vshare, thevideo.me/pair, vidup.me/pair, and tvad.me/pair. If you use Kodi regularly, then you know how annoying the streaming errors can be.
In this guide, we are going to take you through some of the solutions you can use to fix the pair error in Kodi.
But first, get a VPN
We recommend that you use a VPN when streaming content from third-party Kodi addons. Almost all unofficial Video addons get their content from legally iffy sources like OpenLoad, Vidup, Thevideo, and Vshare. These sites are known for hosting copyrighted material and streaming their content can land you in legal trouble for copyright infringement.
Kodi is also open-source, and third-party addons aren’t to be trusted. Some come loaded with malware and can leave you vulnerable to hackers and other malicious individuals. Fortunately, with a VPN you can stay safe and secure when using Kodi.
The right VPN will encrypt your Kodi traffic and protect your identity. No third-party, your ISP included, will be able to intercept and read your data or monitor your streaming habits.
A VPN will also allow you to circumvent the geographical restrictions imposed by some Kodi addons enabling you to access any content on the internet.
Our top VPN for Kodi
ExpressVPN is the VPN we recommend for Kodi. It’s ultra-fast and an incredibly secure VPN. The VPN uses military-grade encryptions and does not record any activity or connection logs. With overs over 3000 servers in 160 locations across 94 countries around the world, ExpressVPN is also perfect for bypassing geo-blocks and censorships.
Additional ExpressVPN security and privacy features include a firewall kill switch and IP/DNS leak protection. The VPN also comes with a split-tunneling feature which lets you tunnel your Kodi traffic through ExpressVPN servers while allowing the rest of your internet traffic to access the internet directly.
The VPN is easy to install, and the provider offers native clients for all the primary Kodi devices. All their pricing plans are backed by a 30-day money-back guarantee allowing you to test the service risk-free.
What causes the Pair Error in Kodi?
The pair error is as a result of the stream authorization requirements of OpenLoad, Vidup, Thevideo, and other similar sources. Given these sites are linked to by many other different sites and addons, demand can sometimes be very high. As such, many video sources may require users to pair and authorize their IP address from time to time to prevent traffic overloads on their servers.
Fixing the Pair Error on Kodi
There are three methods you can use to clear the pair error. Some of the ways will allow you to avoid the IP authorization prompt altogether and enjoy uninterrupted streaming.
Method 1: Pair your IP address
This method allows you to authorize the streaming links by pairing your IP address directly. The process is quite easy, and we recommend it to everyone who wants to preserve the quality of their streams. The only issue major downside with this solution is that it only works temporarily. After some time, the content provider will again prompt you to reauthorize your IP address.
So how do you go about it? When the pair error pops up, go to the source website to begin the authorization. Almost always, the pair error message contains a link to the site, and you can copy and paste it on your browser.
Attention Kodi users
Remember pairing your IP exposes your current IP address to the content providers. This can compromise your security and privacy, and as such, we strongly advise that you connect to a VPN before pairing. A VPN will hide your real IP address, and the content providers will only see the VPN IP. ExpressVPN offers dedicated IPs, and the VPN’s ultra-fast speeds make it a superb choice for streaming.
Steps for pairing your IP address
Below are the steps for clearing the Olpair error on Kodi.
Step 1: When the Olpair error occurs, an OpenLoad Stream Authorization popup will appear on your Kodi screen.
Step 2: From your browser, go to the website provided in the pair error notification. In this case, type or copy & paste the following address.
Note: You can use any device connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Kodi device.
Step 3: Click the checkbox that reads I’m not a robot. If a verification pop up appears, select the right images to complete the verification process.
Step 4: When you’ve completed the verification process, the checkbox will be green marked.
Step 5: Now click pair to authorize OpenLoad
Step 6: When you have successfully paired OpenLoad with your device, a ‘pairing successful!’ message will be displayed.
Congratulations, you have fixed the Olpair error. You can smoothly play OpenLoad streams on your Kodi device.
Note: The OpenLoad Stream Authorization will remain active for up to 4 hours after which you’ll again be prompted to pair your device.
Method 2: Disable Hosters with captchas
If you don’t want to complete the pairing process, you can still clear the pair error by disabling the Hosters with captchas. Turning off the option will automatically remove all the streams that require authorization. With this method, you will no longer see the pairing error.
However, by doing so, you are likely to lose most of the top streams on Kodi. Only links to the few video sources that don’t require stream authorization will be available. Streams from servers like OpenLoad, Vshare, Vidup, Thevideo, and TVAd will be removed.
Currently, Kodi doesn’t offer an option for disabling Hosters with captchas for all addons, and as such, you will need to do it for each addon, one at a time.
Steps to disable Hosters with captchas
Below are the steps for disabling Hosters with captchas. We will be using Exodus Redux addon, but the process works with all addons that require stream authorization.
Step 1: From the Kodi home-screen, click the Add-ons menu and open Video addons
Step 2: Click Exodus Redux and scroll down to Tools.
Step 3: Click the SETTINGS: Playback option
Step 4: Next hover over the Playback option and look for Hosters with captchas in the File Hosting Filters section. Click to disable it.
Now you have successfully disabled Hosters with captchas. All streams from OpenLoad, Vidup, Thevideo, and similar sources will be removed from Exodus Redux, and you won’t see a single pair error.
Method 3: URL Resolver configuration
The last and least common solution is the URL Resolver configuration. Below is the step to step guide on how to clear the pair error using the UR Resolver feature on Kodi.
Step 1: From the Kodi home screen, click the Settings icon.
Step 2: Select the system settings option.
Step 3: Next look for the gear icon o the bottom left corner and click to change it to Expert.
Step 4: Now, hover over the Add-ons tab and select Manage dependencies.
Step 5: On the resulting window, scroll down to URLResolver and click to open
Step 6: Select the configure tab
Step 7: A list of resolvers will appear. Select Resolver 4 to view the list of servers
Step 7: Look for the server name in which the pair error occurred and disable it. In our case, we will disable the OpenLoad server.
That’ll be. We’ve just fixed the pair error on Kodi for the OpenLoad server. Any server you disable using the URLResolver will no longer appear in the list of servers.
The pair error on Kodi can easily be fixed using any of the ways we’ve outlined above. However, while each method is valid, we highly recommend pairing your IP as this will give you access to more quality streams. Just remember to first connect to a reliable VPN to hide your IP and safeguard your identity.
Go ahead and try any of the methods above and let us know what you think in the comment section below.
