Nobody really likes messing around with cables. But, up to a certain point, it is a necessity. And you can go with wireless options, but, what if you already got your expensive wired speakers or headphones and don’t want to spend anything more for wireless counterparts? Well, that’s where a Bluetooth audio receiver may come in handy.
In case that you don’t know about them, Bluetooth audio receivers can connect with a Bluetooth device and turn your wired headphones, speakers, or any sound solution that has an AUX input into a wireless system. But, which one should you choose? Well, let’s check out some of the best options out there!
Best Bluetooth Audio Receiver For in-House Usage: Logitech Bluetooth Adapter
This is one of the most popular Bluetooth audio receivers out there. You can rest assured that it’ll work as intended over a very wide range. After all, we’re talking about Logitech here.
One of the biggest advantages that this adapter offers compared to some of the cheaper options that we checked out is that you can connect two devices to it at once. Now, we don’t know if you can stream audio with both devices simultaneously. But, chances are that you don’t want to do that anyway.
At about 23 bucks, you get both one AUX port for connecting “traditional” speakers but also RCA ports so that you can use things like A/V receivers or something. As for range, according to Logitech, you’re looking at about 50 feet, or 15 meters depending on where you’re from.
Now, do keep in mind that this audio receiver needs to be plugged in. It doesn’t have a battery for portable usage. That’s why we mainly recommend this one for home usage. Simply plug it in, connect your speakers, pair your devices with it, and enjoy.
One disadvantage that numerous people have mentioned on their reviews for the Logitech adapter, though, is that it’s a bit “too persistent” when it comes to pairing. Meaning that it can cause a number of issues if you want to use your connected devices for other wireless activities. So, do keep that in mind.
Apart from those two small disadvantages, this is definitely one of the best receivers that you can get. Especially now that it’s on sale.
Best Audio Receiver For Portability: TaoTronics Receiver
The TaoTronics receiver is one of the best that you can get. In fact, it’s currently Amazon’s best selling Bluetooth audio receiver right now with almost 7,000 ratings and an average rating of 4.3/5. So many people can’t possibly be wrong.
But, with that being said, what is it that makes this receiver so good? After all, it doesn’t give you dual connectivity or anything more than AUX output. It doesn’t even give you the range of Logitech’s adapter. So, what gives?
Apparently, when it comes to portability, this receiver outranks most of the other choices; if not all of them. It gives you about 10 hours of battery life, 200 hours of standby time, and a built-in microphone.
You get about 33ft of range, which is obviously not as good as our previous option. But, it should still be more than enough. Especially for the purpose that this was made for.
Media control buttons are also present which is a huge plus when it comes to portability and ease of use. At least in certain cases. You can use them to adjust volume, pause, skip, or resume playing.
One great thing that you can do with it is to use it so that you can turn your wired headphones into wireless. All you need to do is plug your headphones in, pair the adapter with your phone or PC, and voila, your headphones are now technically wireless. And all of that for just 15 bucks. Not bad.
Best Bluetooth Audio Receiver For Audiophiles: EarStudio ES100
While the rest of our options are definitely great for casual users, demanding audiophiles will definitely find the audio quality to be lacking. After all, wireless connectivity is known for being inferior in terms of quality, right? Well, as it turns out, not always.
The EarStudio ES100 is an audio receiver that promises to deliver 24-bit audio. Under other circumstances, this isn’t that much of a big deal. Because nowadays, even built-in Laptop sound cards can give you that. However, doing that over Bluetooth and on smartphones is very impressive, to say the least. After all, do keep in mind that many smartphones don’t support this bitrate. Wired or not.
Other than that, this doesn’t only work as an audio receiver, but also as a USB DAC. So, you’re basically getting two products for the price of one. But, boy is that a high price tag. At the moment, if you want to get the EarStudio ES100, then you’re looking at $100. Ouch.
This is clearly much more expensive than our other options. But, it’s also much better. You get high-rez audio, a built-in equalizer, the DAC, a built-in mic, analog volume control, and of course, the media control buttons.
Still, with that being said, before spending your hard earned money on this, make sure that you’ve got the appropriate equipment and ears to use it. After all, it doesn’t make sense to spend 100 bucks on a DAC/receiver to use it with your $10 earphones. You get my point.
Furthermore, as we mentioned above, not everyone can tell the difference between “normal” audio and high-rez audio. So, do keep that in mind as well.
This was our collection of the best Bluetooth audio receivers that you can get right now. Hopefully, you managed to find the best option for you. Let us know if you have any questions.
