"Camping," Said the Blogs #
Tim Bray: I should have a look at camping.
Yes, great, because Camping is specifically geared for Architects of the Modern Age. Apart from that, its authentic wood-smoked hickory smell only attracts some feral cats. To these I say: mepw.
Manfred Stienstra: This week I wrote a small web tool in Camping but when I wanted to secure it a little bit I noticed that there was no default way to do HTTP basic authentication… Now let’s just hope Why doesn’t sue me for using the Camping module.
I don’t litigate, I take personal action right away. Everyone who uses Camping is immediately pursued on foot. It’s just a fact of life. You’ll get used to it, Manfred.
Robert Hahn: (I’m wanting to use it w/o the DB engine myself.)
Let’s hear some noise?

“Some noise!”
Actually, Why, i’m going very slowly on this project for a couple of reasons – I can only work on this an hour or two per night, some nights of the week; I’m trying Really Hard to build this from the UI in, instead of from the server out, and it’s taking awhile to get the UI right, (but boy, is it worth it). And once that’s done, I’d like to build this using a TDD approach, which I haven’t tried before (Rails seemed too big to try doing it there), but I’m at a bit of a loss to understand how.
So much to learn. But it is exciting, fascinating stuff; I’m not intimidated, just a tad stonewalled trying so many new things at once.
I’m definitely asking for help on how to TDD with Camping. Any tips? I’ve never used Test::Unit before (in my own development), and the only docs I’ve looked at are in the PickAxe 2nd ed.

I love Camping! I wrote the front end to a whole system monitoring system. I write a little about it at my blog: http://arosien.blogspot.com.
If I make lots of noise, can I have a chunky bacon tshirt? :P
Thijs
Wow, you’re going to chase Manfred all the way over here?
pHiL
Thijs: what do you mean by ‘over here’? _why is everywhere.

pHIL: He’s mocking the fact that despite my chase, Manfred is always just out of grasp. I swear I had him a minute ago!!

I listened, and I just downloaded camping. It was all going just magical like, until lighttpd decided that mod_fastcgi on cygwin wasn’t up to its high standards. And the windows installer for lighttpd decided to install to my non-existant C: drive. It must be a sign!
Looks like I’ll be trying coLinux some time soon.

I am not ’here’.
