Evan's Little Ruby Dune Buggy is in the Garage #

by why in cult

One surprising bit of news which came toppling out of RubyConf was Evan Phoenix’s retooling of Ruby into a much smaller interpreter he calls Rubinius. And, in fact, it has now materialized in his repository.

Requires RubyInline and glib. I believe you can alter lib/platform.h if you need to add some CFLAGS or change any paths. (Via zenspider.)

It looks like a Ruby interpreter in Ruby with parts in RubyInline to make it a little bit faster.

I can’t get it to work, so I’m not sure what it should do (:

Ooh. I wonder if it’s small enough now that someone could crunch it into a Palm (The new ones like the TX let you get around the wacky memory model stuff somewhat with StrongArm bundles, but I don’t yet have the tech fu necessry to make this happen).
