The Starry Afternoon has Expanded #

by why in cult

If you’re at OSCON, my session has moved to the ballroom at 3:20 PM. This is directly attributable to our loudness. And likely the fun and contageous good feeling that stoked the furnaces of FreeGeek last night at FOSCON. Much appreciation to Nat Torkington for helping us out and giving us a suitable theatre. I think we are working on getting a live broadcast over TBS SuperStation.

FOSCON was an absolute wonderland. A rabbit hole with its own starriness and feverish magenta glow. So good of Phil to put it on and to Martin, Aaron, Ben and all the attendees who participated. My friend Dedi has shots.

Well? Must be over by now.

So how did it go? Any Python riots?

Wonderful, I really enjoyed the show. I put a few shots in the OSCON pool on Flickr…

Saw the show last night at FOSCON , it was indeed great. More presentations need audience-participation by means of DRb.

Where are the Torrents? The angry masses are about to storm the gates!!

_why… Thank you for the show at FOSCON last night. I absolutely loved it. Let’s here it for Modulaise!

Wow! Just looked at the pictures. Getting to see how the people I read from and about look like is quite an experience :) . At least why looks exactly as I imagined him ;) (but Matz doesn’t!)

_why, if you make a CD I will be first in line to buy it. You rock!

I am so sad I didn’t make it to F/OSCON.

BTW : I found a nice slide show of the performance here.

Incredible! Images! Some great photography there. Why, wow. And now we all need a see-dee, or C-90, with the sounds. (I take it all was recorded.)

Also very impressive: Hooray for the shadow-play.

Bill: Thanks for the link to that FOSCON slide show.

Scott Laird: If you’re listening, thanks for taking those pictures which captured the very essence of FOSCON . I took a few pictures too, but they were pathetic.

_why: Yes, a CD, as Lucas suggests, would be the next logical step traditionally followed by a World Tour.

Man I wish I’d made it.

Looks like you folks had a good time, congrats.

Thanks Phil. I have about 400 more pictures if anyone really cares :-). I tried to pick the high points for Flickr, but if there’s any particular event that anyone wants to see, please leave a comment on my FOSCON blog post.

Thanks for organizing things.

thanks to every blogger putting stuff online for us, poor non-F/OSCONners :)

Looks like it was a blast! Thanks for the pics Scott

_why, could I convince you to have another such show for RubyConf? I had to choose only one conference this year, and last year’s OSCON had a poor Ruby showing… so anyway, I didn’t see the Stars nor the Afternoon :(

said on 08 Aug 2005 at 10:58

Yeah, the plan is to play the Friday night of RubyConf at a venue in San Diego. We’ll talk very frankly about this in September. If anyone’s interested in seeing more at other O’Reilly conferences (or next year’s OSCON ), the surest path is to fill out a speaker evaluation.
