There’s nothing more satisfying than watching a flurry of winks land on a blog that has just closed its comments. Like here. A two page jeremiad on the relief of closing comments and we’re still yuckin away.

There’s more:

  • A somebody called boxcarrobert started a blog for newbies who want to climb on. See here: Wink’d.
  • Hoodwink’d 1.6 is out. You can now theme Hoodwink’d using very simple templates. This isn’t a frivolous feature, guys. I broke things into a couple templates and it just happened. For the scoop, there’s an article on Wasteland. (Is blank unless you wink.)

Great thing about the themes: you can call all the Greasemonkey functions from right there, so editing hacks and buddy list hacks are well within the grasp of most druids with traditionally-sized forearms.

Aha! Now 1.7 is immediately out. With a debugging theme and some bugfixes to URL handling.

I installed user.js several times, now it seems to be working. However, I can’t wink because I’m getting “no such user found” errors.

No workee for me either. One two machines. One linux with Firefox 1.0.7, the other OS X with Firefox 1.5.

make sure to update your hoodwink user profile, provide the default theme url http://hoodwink.d/themes/1/

once set, winks worked again.
